Ubisoft has recently announced the release of the newest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. One of the most successful game franchises in recent history, the notable titles of this game have stretched across many eras of human history. Such successes as Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed Four: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Origin, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey fill the series ranks. On the flipside, there are several notable entries in the series that many people are unaware of or have completely forgotten. The Assassin’s Creed series started with the original title game Assassin’s Creed has entertained gamers for over a decade with sequel and spinoff games.
The fast paced third person exploring, Combat, and problem-solving gameplay has entertained thousands of gamers as has the storyline of the games. Being loosely based on actual historical events the games plot revolves around a conflict between two opposing philosophical viewpoints on the world and the orders that support them. The primary point of their conflict is to uncover the secrets of a fictional ancient civilization and its relics. In more recent installments many of the characters from the ancient civilization were refined and given attributes and names from ancient deities such as Zeus, Poseidon, Juno, and so on. Also, part of the story is the main character or rather the main character is descendent it provided a tie in the connected in series together. As a result, all the main game releases from one up to four were huge successes, as were the two most recent installments in the series Origin and Odyssey.
There are however games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise that are not very well known or poorly received. The two most notable examples of these are Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Though Assassin’s Creed Unity has excellent graphics the storyline was hard to follow and felt disconnected from the previous games. In addition, it had been advertised as a team play game but this function was never fully realized. Assassin’s Creed Syndicates had the same problems as Unity and bad graphics from the cut things cutscene to gameplay are lacking, especially compared to other’s titles in the series.
